چکیده

In order to investigate the non-linear fatigue cumulative damage of joints in ocean structural parts, one type low carbon steel Q345D was employed prepare designed T-type specimens, and a series experiments were carried out on specimens under two-step repeating variable amplitude loading condition. The chosen high cyclic loads larger than constant limit (CAFL) below CAFL. Firstly, S-N curve specimen obtained via different tests. Then, load with aim calculating load. discussions about interaction effect between loadings life out, some meaningful conclusions according results show that calculated based Miner’s rule ranges from 0.513 1.756. Under same cycle ratio, increases increase stress, at stress linearly ratio. Based evaluation method, it is found exhibits or strengthening effects change ratio

Strip yield modelling of fatigue crack under variable amplitude loading

The results from ‘strip yield’ approach of the FASTRAN type models of plasticity induced crack closure effects of fatigue cracks subjected to variable amplitude loadings are presented. The strip yield results are compared with authors’ finite element (FE) and experimental results. It has been observed that the strip yield model is seen to be fundamentally limited by choice of α (constraint fact...

Stochastic fatigue damage modeling under variable amplitude loading

A general methodology for stochastic fatigue life prediction under variable amplitude loading is proposed in this paper. The methodology combines a nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation rule and a stochastic S–N curve representation technique to achieve this objective. The nonlinear damage accumulation rule proposed in this paper improves the deficiencies inherent in the linear damage accumulat...

Analyses of Fatigue and Fatigue-crack Growth under Constant- and Variable-amplitude Loading

Studies on the growth of small cracks have led to the observation that fatigue life of many engineering materials is primarily “crack growth” from micro-structural features, such as inclusion particles, voids, slip-bands or from manufacturing defects. This paper reviews the capabilities of a plasticity-induced crack-closure model to predict fatigue lives of metallic materials using “small-crack...

Load Controlled Fatigue of AZ31B

With the expanding demand on application of magnesium alloys in automotive and aerospace industries, robust methods in fatigue characterization of commercially available magnesium alloys with high specific strength is anticipated. In this paper, rotating bending load controlled tests has been studied on specimens machined from an extrusion piece of AZ31B. Due to asymmetric and anisotropic behav...

Lifetime prediction of adhesive joints subjected to variable amplitude fatigue

Almost all structural applications of adhesive joints will experience cyclic loading and in most cases this will irregular in nature, a form of loading commonly known as variable amplitude fatigue (VAF). This paper is concerned with the VAF of adhesively bonded joints and has two main parts. In the first part, results from the experimental testing of adhesively bonded single lap joints subjecte...
